Born in
Florida, raised in
Indiana and refined somewhere between New England and the great Northwest! The multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter began his independent musical journey during the summer of 2003
inside the Cascade Mt. Range of Bend, Oregon. There were many late nights with
guitars, microphones, microbrews & smoke. Prolific songwriting poured from
the pixels of these sessions and Dan’s debut album was born,
Boise, Bend & Back Home Again. For the recording of BB&BHA, Dan collaborated with long time friend, recording
engineer and drummer, Roy Wallace. The two performed shows throughout
New England,
Michigan and
Indiana during
2004 to finance the project. Boise, Bend
& Back Home Again has become an all-time favorite amongst fans since its
official release in 2005.
The Dan Walker Band was created during the summer of 2005
with the collective efforts of bassist, Luke Crawley, and drummer Roy Wallace.
With over a decade of experience working together on diverse musical projects,
the trio toured across the country for two years while making the Rocky Mts. of
Colorado & Wyoming home base. As they gained a tighter grip on their original hip-shaking
Americana
grooves, the DWB became inspired to record some of what they were performing
night after night and create Dan Walker's critically acclaimed second release, Airplane.
Airplane was
recorded at Electric Peak Studio in
Gardiner,
MT with co-producer and engineer,
Fred Baker. On New Years Day of 2006 at the base of one of the most beautiful
places on Earth,
Yellowstone
National Park, the
setting was made perfect for the grand start of an uplifting collection of
songs. It was a week long marathon of
Hammond B3 organs Lesleing around and Vox AC30 amplifiers making the room spin
while mule deer and buffalo grazed in the front yard of the studio. Most of the
instrumentation was recorded on vintage gear like great 60’s and 70’s
recordings . As the inspired songs of travel and observation mixed with the
vintage wilds of
Montana,
the tone of Airplane came to be just as warm as those old records. All vocals were recorded at River City
Studios,
Grand Rapids
MI with executive recording engineer, Roy Wallace.
After a year and a half from its start, 'Airplane' was released in August of
2007.
Dan moved back "home" to
New England
in 2007 to be apart of the Seacoast Music Scene. Recording for his third album
started in the spring/summer of 2008. One can find him playing out weekly! So check the calendar and we hope to see you in the journey...
